A Little Bit of Love

A few weeks ago my university announced that it would be showing the documentary "The Anatomy of Hate". Soon after, we were listed on the website belonging to the Westboro Baptist Church, saying that they would be protesting at our school because of the showing of the movie. They are a hate group, discriminating against many different people, especially the gay community. If you don't know who WBC is, it's ok, it's not really that important (or you can just wikipedia them).

Anywho,

It was decided that we would stage a counter-protest against them. We fired up the music, brought out the food, and had a huge party on the JAYwalk this afternoon, in a celebration of LOVE. We called it our LOVE DAY ON THE JAY. It was awesome! Our WHOLE campus community came together for this event. One teacher even commented that it was the first time in his 20 years of teaching here that he's seen the whole campus come together for an event. (Oh, and by the way, WBC never even showed up.)

Hatred is fueled by fear. Fear is fueled by culture. Culture CAN CREATE HOPE. Hope and Love are the only things that can overcome hatred.

"Hatred cannot be ended by hatred, but by love" - The Buddha (aka Sidhartha Gautama).

A day of love, peace, and a great movie. LOVEly!

Now... go get a copy of THE ANATOMY OF HATE and share it with your friends!
